Affiliate Marketing, or Your Own Product

There are so many great opportunities associated with affiliate marketing. There are two common ways people often use to get started on the road to internet marketing. One is affiliate marketing. The other is creating your own product, usually an informational eBook.
Here are the pros and cons of each:
With affiliate marketing you can get started right away. All you have to do is create a link to the affiliate(s) you are going to represent. Learn how to send traffic to you link and voila, you’re in business.
If you decide to create your own product(s), you will do better financially. Not only will you make money from the first product but from all subsequent products. Creating your own product takes time and expertise.
Generally you don’t need your own website for affiliate marketing. However it is better to have one. With today’s technology, they’re not that difficult to build.
If you create your own product, you can go back and make changes and improvements when necessary. This gives you control over your website, and allows you to stay abreast of new innovations.
Affiliate marketing generally pays you every couple of weeks, sometimes longer. Unfortunately there are those merchants who don’t pay you at all. Be careful when selecting these affiliates.
When you have your own product you control the method of payment, and your money accrues to you as soon as a credit card or other means of payment is transacted.
Affiliate marketing usually pays a commission of 50%. Some merchants pay less and some more. Considering your minimum investment and lack of product producing input, this is a very good deal.
In marketing your own product you get to keep all the money except for credit transaction fees and possibly a few other minor expenses. Also you have a sense of pride in knowing you created your own product and you have total control.
So which one fits best. If you are just starting, I would choose affiliate marketing. Not only is it the easier way to go, but you can pick up a lot of valuable information. You will then be in a better position later to think about promoting your own product.
